North Carolina Bicycle Summit Comes to Raleigh

The North Carolina Active Transportation Alliance is holding it's inaugural Bicycle Summit in Raleigh, NC this fall.  Registration is only $65 per person and that includes admission to the 2-day event with breakfast on both days and lunch on Friday.  Statewide advocates for bicycling encourage people from all over NC turn out for this event to show their support.  As you can see from the schedule of the event overlapping with the weekend, the NCATA hopes that cycling enthusiasts who have regular day jobs will still be able to attend on Saturday.

Highlights Include (this is my list, not exhaustive)

Friday
  • Opening Speaker - President of the League of American Bicyclists - Andy Clarke
  • Breakout - Engaging Communities in Bicycle Advocacy
  • Lunch Keynote - President of the National Alliance for Biking and Walking - Jeff Miller
  • Breakout - Bicycle Fundraisers and Event Planning (let's get a 'ciclovia' event going in the Raleigh area!)
  • Breakout - Watch For Me NC - Cclist and Driver Education Campaign
  • Evening Social (where we can all mind meld)
Saturday
  • Policy and Politics focus group
  • Bike ride! around the city
  • Strategy session on biking and walking
